Long Beach Unified School District special education occupational therapist Arnel Calvario will be among the honorees at the annual Gene Lentzner Human Relations Awards held by the California Conference for Equality and Justice.
The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at Keesal, Young and Logan at 400 Oceangate, Long Beach. A 5:30 p.m. reception will precede the main dinner program.
The awards, now in their 26th year, are given in the name of Gene Lentzner because of his life-long commitment to bringing diverse people together to improve human relations in the greater Long Beach area.
Other honorees at the event will include Lian Cheun, executive director of Khmer Girls in Action, and Anitra Dempsey, executive director of the Citizen Police Complaint Department with the City of Long Beach.
CCEJ is a human relations organization dedicated to confronting bias, bigotry and racism through education, conflict resolution and advocacy.
